Professional Experience

Cori Convertito holds a doctorate in Maritime History from the University of Exeter U.K. during which time she examined ‘The Health of British Seamen in the West Indies, 1770-1806’ which focused on British West Indies development and its influence on health and medicine in the Royal Navy.

At present, Cori is the Curator & Historian for the Key West Art & Historical Society which operates four distinct and inspired museums on a historically-significant island with ties to several industries, Florida Keys culture and the U.S. Navy.

In Spring 2023, Cori assumed the additional role of Executive Director of The Society for the History of Navy Medicine—a non-profit organization that supports research, scholarship and publication of the history of naval or maritime medicine and to promote knowledge of this history to the general public.

She is available as a researcher, historian, writer, exhibit developer, archivist and lecturer.
